FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I MAKE A NEW PATIENT APPOINTMENT?

DO I NEED TO HAVE PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE TO ATTEND THIS PRACTICE?

A referral will first be sent by your General Practitioner or Specialist along with any tests or studies that have been conducted to date.

Once that referral and supporting documentation has been received by us, it is then viewed by the requested Oncologist or Haematologist and an appointment time be given. Our Medical Receptionists will then phone you to confirm.

All Oncology patients seen at our Epworth Consulting Rooms must have Private Health Insurance.

Public referrals should be directed to Oncologists at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre at University Hospital, Ryrie Street, Geelong.

Our Haematologists see uninsured patients for outpatient care.

IS THERE AN "OUT OF POCKET" COST TO SEE AN ONCOLOGIST AT THESE ROOMS?

WHERE ARE OUR WE LOCATED?

Yes. Consultation fees are charged when you see a Specialist in our rooms. These fees depend on the length of appointment time. Medicare covers part of this fee.

Any 'out of pocket' component covers the time you spend with your doctor, correspondence from your doctor to the referring doctor and other practitioners involved in your care, organisation of your treatment (if required), phone calls and any other general administration related to your care.

A list of fees are available at the Reception Desk.
Inpatient and day stay fees are covered by your private health insurance (with a few exceptions) and our doctors do not charge a gap.

We can be found at:-

IS THERE CAR PARKING AVAILABLE?

There are currently two large open air carparks at the hospital for patients, visitors and staff. For patients with a Disability Parking Permit there are reserved carparks by the main hospital entrance, otherwise there is designated Disabled Parking in the main lower car park.

Patients can be dropped off at the front entrance where they can wait whilst the car is parked. There is a charge to use the Epworth Car Park. You will be given a ticket upon entry and payment can be made at the machine just outside the main doors as you are leaving.

All GCP patients having treatment receive a free parking pass on exit.

WHAT INFORMATION AND SUPPORT CAN YOU OFFER MYSELF OR MY FAMILY?

We have numerous books, brochures and information sheets for patients and their families to access.
We can also offer referrals to support services from Counselling to Oncology Massage, Rehab and more. Please ask your Oncologist or our Medical Reception Staff if you need further information.
